16oz can with a best by date of 7/24/26. Opened 5-30-26.
Almost 3 finger eggshell white head with excellent retention.
Golden body with an unfiltered appearance.
Honey, grain, dough, and grassy hops, smells great.
Full of flavor and well balanced...sweet honeyed malt and spicy hops. A faint smoky flavor adds to the complexity.
Tasty brew that I want more of.
Medium to full bodied lager with low-medium carbonation. Medium length finish with a hint of malt sweetness.
Outstanding.

Appearance - clear golden coloured body with white head

Smell - toasted bread, toasted caramel

Taste - biscuit, toasted honey, toasted bread crust, cracker

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, medium carbonation, bready and biscuity upfront, slight caramel in the middle and herbaceous on the back end

Overall - this is a well done lager, easy to drink and unobtrusive. Bready upfront and herbaceous on the back. Surely Worth a try.

Price Point - $10.99/4 pack 16 oz cans.

Had VTB's Austrian Style Export Lager poured from pint can, bottom stamped "BEST BY 07/25/26," into pilsner glass.

Pours yellow-gold with clarity and 1-finger near-white head, with good retention, leaving Belgian lace etched diminishingly down the glass. Aromas of mild, sweet pilsner malt and a little lemony citrus off pour, with some bitter herbal aroma too, joined by some woodsy, earthy even cedar notes, growing florals and mild hop spice aromas as warms. On tasting, begins with lots of sweet pilsner malt, and a little nutty malt too, moderately carbonated, then some, growing, bitter herbal bite, which complements the malt sweetness, later joined by a little floral honey, so that the malt sweetness and hop bite carry together into a fairly substantial, balanced finish.

Drink slowly, or at least not too cold, to allow the appearance of the multitudinous hop aromas which elevate this otherwise competent but bog-standard Dortmunder export.

On tap at river road tavern
Mostly clear light gold color with a descent sized bubbly white head that persists. Crackery bready maltiness with a pleasant spicy peppery floral hoppiness.

Pours a clear golden with two fingers of slightly off-white head from a 16 oz. can.

Nose is subtle and of lovely floral Noble hops.

Mouthfeel is medium light with slight carbonation.

Sweet malt starts off this beer which is followed eventually by a subtle but firm Noble hop character, sulfur, and bitterness which continues into the aftertaste and invites another sip.

Overall a lovely lagerbier and what I've come to expect from both of these stellar breweries.

From a 16oz can dated "best by" 7/25/26 into one of those European mugs with the big dimples on the side.

Pours a pretty much translucent golden orange with just about one finger of white head. Nice retention, mild lacing.

Nice spicy peppery notes on the crack of the can with bready malt backbone. Into the mug, crackery and biscuit malts dominate with spiciness in the background.

More malt-forward. Bready, saltine cracker. Floral, pepper, grass in the background.

Almost a sticky mouthfeel. Full-bodied. Medium to high carbonation. Light bitter aftertaste.

Not exactly sure what these two lager beast breweries were aiming for here, but this is really enjoyable.

On Lukr tap at The Blackback Pub in Waterbury, VT.

This one pours a light golden orange-ish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells bready and doughy, with some lemon, honey, and toasted nutty notes.

I’m not exactly sure how to pin this down, style-wise – it tastes a bit festbier like, but also helles -like – the closest thing would be a pale festbier, I guess. There’s not a ton of hop character, but a really nice breadiness, some very light honey, and a really good toasty and nutty finish.

This is light bodied, clean, crisp, and very, very drinkable.

This is a great lager from two breweries who really know their way around all sorts of lagers.

Poured from pint can purchased from The Washington Beer Store.

Wonderfully surprised by this lager! We're not big lager fans, so, no, we haven't had much in the way of "good" lagers. So this was an excellent choice!

I didn't find the aroma much different from other lagers, so the initial taste was eye opening! The initial flavor was a honey-sweet biscuit followed by slight lemon and herb, finishing with malt and a slight bite of a pepper.

From a 16 oz can with a BB date of 07/24/26. Sampled April 9, 2026

Heady yellow-golden pour with great clarity. Eventually fades. Bubbly carbonation.

Aroma of toasted bread, sour dough bread, and grassy hops mostly.

Light-medium and smooth mouthfeel

The taste is sweet and bready at first but then an herbal bitterness akin to sage and rosemary kicks in and lingers at the end.

16oz can purchased from the fridge as a 4-pack for $10.49. Can says "Best By 07/25/26" and it seems like this was released very recently so I'm guessing that it was probably canned on 2/25/26, which would make this almost a month old at most.

Look: Nice copper gold color with excellent clarity and carbonation. Small to medium sized bubbles are consistently rising up the glass. There was an off-white head of about two fingers that was a bit rocky and crumbled to almost nothing pretty quickly. There's a thin rim around the glass.

Smell: Nice biscuity and toasty malt backbone. I also get an interesting floral note. It smells like honeysuckle up front, but then I get jasmine on the finish with an earthy green tea vibe. Up front, I also get subtle fruit aroma with a crisp apple and perhaps some lemon zest. Very nice aroma that is overall pretty soft and subtle.

Taste: The taste follows the nose. Up front, it's toasty and a bit nutty, biscuity, with a honeyed sweetness. The finish is very crisp with a dry and mild to moderate bitterness. The finish is peppery with very earthy tones and spice. Getting some of that jasmine green tea character on the finish with some mild green tea tannin-like character. It's very nice. Refreshing and drinkable.

Feel: Very easy to drink and crisp. It has a medium minus body. Probably a bit lighter in body than a typical Vienna lager; I'm guessing that this type of beer has a higher proportion of Pilsner malt compared to a typical Vienna lager. The carbonation and mouthfeel is really nice - it's so soft, almost velvety.

Overall: I'm not sure if Vienna Lager is the proper style for this beer, but I'm also not sure what would be a better fit. It's an export lager, but it's not a Dortmunder. Whatever it is, it's really good. No surprise when two awesome lager breweries like Von Trapp and Jack's Abby get together! I'm not sure if I have had another beer of this style before. Well done!

From the website:
This collaboration with Jack's Abby of Framingham, Massachusetts is the next offering in our Collab Series, an Austrian-inspired export lager. Brewed with Pilsner and Vienna malts, Slovenian Styrian Golding hops, and fermented cool with our house lager yeast, this single-decocted deep golden springtime lager has notes of bread dough, honey, spice, and toast, with a round mouthfeel and smooth, rich finish.

16 oz can best by 07/25/26

Pours clear golden amber yellow orange with a frothy off-white foam head. Smells pretty mild with some noble hop spice notes, light citrus, apple, pear, peppercorns, tobacco, and pale biscuity malts. Tastes like lightly toasty bready biscuity crackery pale malts, some melanoidin rich bread crust, toffee, amber honey, lemony orange citrus marmalade, apricot, hints of orchard fruit, subtle green tobacco, peppercorn spice, with earthy floral herbal grassy hops. Feels fuller bodied, creamy smooth with crisp moderate carbonation. Overall a really nice Austrian style export lager.
