I took this out of the refrigerator and allowed it to warm to cellar temperature before sampling. Poured into a Chimay logo chalice from a 12-ounce bottle (no bottling date, as far as I could tell). Not the prettiest beer I've ever seen. A very aggressive pour yielded almost no head, and there were plenty of floaties that clung to the side of the glass. The actual color was quite attractive, a reddish-brown with lots of ruby highlights. In terms of aroma and flavor, the beer is exceptional. Caramel, toffee, dark fruit (raisin, prune), and a little tart apple, with a hint of candi sugar sweetness rounding out the profile. Medium to light in body, with a sticky and slightly sour finish. Although discontinued, some "shelf-aged" product might still be available. Grab some while you can - it's worthy.

Poured a dark brown color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It smelled of caramel, dried fruits and toffee. It was sweet with a strong dried fruit flavor.
