Airways has embarked on a mission to brew a series of different IPAs. This first one reaches into imperial territory starting with a dark, orange-gold body emitting a scent of peppery, skunk cannabis. The aroma fades before long and tends to disappoint as a feature of a beer style that otherwise should entice us with its fragrance. Likewise, the thick, lumpy head also fades quickly. The flavor emphasizes a sharp lemon rind quality with no overtures to flowery or piney hop character. An odd twang of bitterness brings it to a close. Not bad, but I hope #2 improves on #1.
