Super sudsy pour but quite beautiful with the piled up foam. Really dark brown head on the dark red-brown brew in the tall Troubadour tulip. Aroma of dark chocolate with resiny hops with deep roasted barley.

The hops are quite bold but not excessively bitter. Brewer says this is made with Magnum and Goldings hops, and rates the IBUs at 70. Moderate sweetness. Rich, chocolatey, and winey with huge dark roast malt tastes. Not unctuous, and not exactly watery, but still less thick than expected. It 's actually an unusually nice mouthfeel, with the sudsy carbonation lingering, the sharp hop acidity, but also a silky sensation.

The aftertaste lingering is so much like bitter chocolate with a boozy tang. One of the better imperial stouts I've had in a long time. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Special Brews in Lynwood. This is the 2013 edition and ABV is 9.3%.

A-Black in the glass, three finger deep brown head, well carbonated.

S-Roasted malt, good deal of coffee, balanced out by some dark chocolate.

T-Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, something is a tad off though.

M-Medium in body, some carbonation, not that creamy either.

O-A good stout, but in a saturated style this one doesn't do anything to distinguish it self. That being said, glad I was able to try it.

22oz bomber. shitty day.

I have no idea why 2012 me purchased this beer - It's a pretty dope label but its an unbarelled imperial stout, a style of beer that has very little place in the world these days.

Chocolatey-amber body, tan ring - notes of booze, burnt espresso, charred malt, bakers chocolate. I think it's probably a pretty good imperial stout - a bit bitter and 'burnt' for my taste but well assembled. It's funny how the duration of time makes a once popular style not really make sense anymore. Not for me.

Poured into an Elysian snifter. Pour pitch black with a thin film of light brown head with a ring around the glass. Nice aroma of toasted malt, coffee and a hint of chocolate. Flavor follows aroma, dominated by toasted malt and charred coffee with hints of chocolate and licorice, finishing roasty with a bit of hop bitterness. Medium bodied with a hint of creaminess. A nice imperial stout that hits all the right notes, the charred coffee element fit well and melded with the other flavors. Glad I could try this and I hope to see it again.
