Notes: Our Oatmeal PSA (Pale Session Ale) is perfect for drinking any time of day. Brewed with flaked oats for a creamy sweetness, this sessionable beer is balanced with citrusy Northwest hops. This beer hints at a favorite airline of yesteryear. If you’re a California native, you may know what we’re talking about.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a one finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet biscuit and bready malt, citrus hops, orange family citrus, nice. Flavor is dominated by citrus hops, orange and tangerine citrus, citrus rind, mild sweet pale malt. Light to medium bodied. A nicely hopped citrus pale ale with a neutral malt body that would be uninspiring except the oatmeal gives it a nice smooth mouth feel. An enjoyable refreshing pale ale. Nicely done.

A: Poured a hazy light orangish color with great carbonation yielding a nice, fluffy white cap with substantial staying power. A few shades of lacing appear and disappear as I drink and a few bubbles stick around after several sips.

S: The hops provide a nice orange peel nose with perhaps a light grapefruit and tangerine. A light breadiness and oats underneath all of the hops is found.

T: Initially the taste buds are hit by citrus in the way of orange peel but a little bit of floral"ness" peaks in as well but mainly citrus here. I can really taste and mores o feel the flaked oats in the beer. The finish is dry, lightly bittering, some light sweetness

M: Medium body but not as filling as you would think. The oats provide a fullness to it that I really enjoy while keeping it sessionable

O: This is a great representation of a robust, yet sessionable APA. The oats and hop profile worked beautifully.

From 04/26/13 notes. 16 oz. can shared by nmann08; thanks Nate.

a - Pours a hazy orange yellow color with one finger of fluffy off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of citrus hops, bready malts, fruity malts, grains, dough, and biscuit malts. Nice citrus hops mixing with a lot of malts; I like it.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, bready malts, toasted malts, biscuit malts, grains, lemon, floral hops, and some light tropical fruits. Nice taste, a slight step up from the nose and a little more flavor.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Body is pretty smooth and easy to drink.

o - Overall an interesting beer and exactly what I was thinking it would be. Some nice citrus and floral hops to it and a lot of malts. Smooth and easy to drink; could be a nice easy drinking summer APA. Would have it again.

Poured from 16oz tall can into a pint glass.

Appearance: golden-yellow hue with a moderate haze and a strong effervescence. Head pours two thick fingers of frothy white foam. I rather like it.

Smell: lightly sweet malt aroma with a hint of graininess and some herbal, prickly hops. The hop character isn't to my taste, but there's some balance here.

Taste: hops are more forward on the flavor palate here. The prickliness of the hops lends a kind of drying element here, which I don't think suits the beer well. I like the malt component, though; oatmeal pales seem to be getting more and more popular, and I can see why.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and a concomitant creaminess. Not bad.

Overall: I don't think I'd seek out this beer again. It's not bad, but it's just not to my taste.

Poured into nonic. Poured a cloudy orange yellow color, with a few random floaties, and had about 1/2 inch of white head that had retention that was just on the low side of moderate, and medium light lacing.

A bright citrus hop scent was the primary feature of the aroma, with a soft grain scent in the background. The flavors were the same, with the added feature of a dry, semi-bitter grapefruit hit at the back of the tongue.

The body was nicely smooth and even, and had a fairly dry finish. Drinkability was good, I could see putting back a couple of these during a ballgame or NASCAR race. Overall, a very nice brew. It doesn't try to be something it's not, and succeeds at what it is. Worth grabbing when you see it.
