Part of a limited run of throwback beers from the past! This is full of grapefruit citrus with a touch of pine and has a hoppy kick at the finish. Cheers to 10 years!

Deep copper, half inch thick head.
Clean and crisp pine hop aromas.
Hop city with a pleasant maltiness underneath it. Not so much a bite as a trip down smooth lane.
Great beer. Thanks Buddy!

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/5/2020. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/orange/amber/light copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, pepper bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%, or lingering hop burn after the finish. Overall this is an excellent IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Feels like Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo, and Simcoe. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice sized bready malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made classic tasting Midwest style example as expected of the brewery. No complaints.

Pours rather dark for an ipa. Nose is a bit hoppy. Taste is hard to describe. Hops, bitter and a little biscuit taste. Good beer, but would love to have more hop aroma.

What to do with history. On one hand, its demands respect, reverence and emulation. On the other hand, its worth moving past, improving, innovating. Odd Side Ales remembers their very first beer in a beer that veers from their progressive brewing agenda for a trip down the tastebud's version of memory lane.
Deep honey amber and cast in a firm haze, the beer glows with golden and maroon highlights. A hoppy bouquet of grapefruit and orange aligns with a nutty scent of cracker jacks candy. Sweet on the front of the tongue, a toasty, caramelized and almost toffee taste comes in waves of amber ale savoriness.
As the sweetness settles down, the middle palate becomes a testament to hops. Pink grapefruit, orange and a hint of mango become the showpiece of flavor as the notions of honey become lightly toasty, nutty and woodsy. Trending bitter and herbal, hints of chive come with fresh pine, tea and a peppery vodka finish.
Medium bodied, the hop forward beer retains a malt foundation that persists through a medium aftertaste. Grapefruit flavors outlast the hops for a citrusy, sprucy and spicy finish that accompanies the malt remnants into a long and bitter linger. It's about time that Odd Side puts this recipe behind them once and for all.

The appearance was a semi-hazy burnt orange to bronzed amber color with a cap of a little white foamy head. Fairly quick dissipation, sly messy lace. The aroma had some citrus to floral sweet and bitter portions, sweet grassy notes, subtle malt base and a touch of sweet and spicy rye. Light earthiness. The flavor had a touch of the citrus sweet side melding into the floral crisp sweetness. Rye spice and sweetness does gain a nice little kick right before the aftertaste which was rye sweet and spicy. Finish was spicy and sweet, rye and floral. The palate was roughly medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt good. Rye harshness was balanced appropriately through the malt base that I noticed in the aroma. Overall, really nice rye beer that I would have again.
