12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/5/2020. Pours lightly hazy very dark ruby red/brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, fig, date, red apple, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, smoke, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, fig, date, red apple, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, smoke, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, peppery, roasted bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, brown bread/crust, dark fruit, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, smoke, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with no cloying/astringent notes after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, fairly sticky, and light chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is an awesome English brown ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish; great soft feel. Awesome rich well rounded malt complexity, with solid earthy hops and restrained fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example as expected of the brewery.
