really cool beer here, the cherry and the coffee go really well together, i dont know why we dont see those two in combination more, it really seems to work. the deep roast and charred bitterness of the coffee, and its intense dark chocolate character meets the dense juicy red tang of the cherry, with a little sweetness and a little acidity, there is a great balance and a unique synergy here, and this beer showcases that really well. i am glad these two elements are as forward as they are here, the bourbon accents them together, but doesnt overtake them, and the base stout is very much still intact, roasty in its own right, sturdy and full bodied, milk and dark chocolate, light smoke, and a little caramel malt sweetness in the middle. not overly boozy or thick to drink either, this seems lighter than some of their other barrel aged stouts i have had recently. the cherry is a great touch to this, it gives it a real unique center flavor, and helps cut some of the density. oak and whiskey and vanilla and cocoa to finish, bitter from the coffee, candy-like for a second from the cherry, overall just delicious. odd side has always impressed me the most with their dark beers, and this is another instant classic from them in that field!

Enjoyed on draft from a recent batch that clocked in at 11% ABV, and the highlight of my first trip to Odd Side. A perfect use of coffee in a barrel-aged stout, contributing a tremendous fudginess and subtle nutty flavors that make this very "soft" and approachable for a BBA stout in the double-digit ABV range. The addition of tart cherry juice is only noted on the finish when first served, and on the midpalate when approaching room temp, bringing out a touch of tart balance and combining with the chocolate notes from the coffee to produce a cherry cordial in liquid form.
My wife is repulsed by coffee and enjoyed this without complaint. Her loathing of coffee presents Cherrywood with the highest compliment I can give it.

750 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but was just released. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, lightly tart cherries/skin, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, fudge, whiskey, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of dark fruit, molasses, smoke, char, roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate cherry notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, lightly tart cherries/skin, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, fudge, whiskey, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with light notes of dark fruit, molasses, smoke, char, roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light roast/char bitterness, whiskey/oak spiciness, and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, cherries, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, fudge, whiskey, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, light molasses/smoke/char, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate cherry flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and whiskey/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from roast/char bitterness and whiskey/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky/tangy/tannic mouthfeel that is great. A bit on the thin side for the ABV, but nothing to complain about. Mildly increasing warmth of 11%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic BBA imperial coffee stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, whiskey barrel, and light-moderate cherry flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. Extremely rich malt/coffee complexity, outstanding barrel integration/balance, and not overdone on cherries at all. More of a complementing level of fruit. A highly enjoyable offering. Liked this a bit more than the base beer.

Had on tap. Poured black with a thin khaki head. Cherries dominate both smell and taste (a little overwhelming, actually), followed by chocolate and roasted malt. Medium body. Overall, glad I got to try it, and would recommend.
