Very tasty double IPA sampled on tap at Odd Side Ales. Looks great, clear golden color with a thin cap of white head and some impressive looking thick rings of lingering lacing that stayed forever. Smells surprisingly faintly of grapefruit, melon, mango, passionfruit, lemon and tangerine. Also some faint malt, vanilla, bread and herbal and floral hops. Taste follows the nose, fairly good balance with the bitter hops just outshining the sweeter malt backbone. Smooth, slightly thin, smooth mouthfeel and good carbonation. Higher ABV was well-hidden. An enjoyable offering.

Aroma is fruit/citrus, earthy malts and mild sweetness. The flavor is fruit/citrus, earthy malts, grapefruit and a tropical fruit/hoppy/slight hop resin finish.

Little nuance here on the smell, just a falcon punch of hops to the nose! As you falcon dive into the beer, you begin to get some lighter fruits, but really they get drowned out by the hops. Perhaps a raptor boost of other flavors would help balance? Still good, it can falcon kick it with any other day to day dipa. That being said, with that delicious hop profile, I wonder if odd side would use in another ipa, so you know, it can, "show me your moves". Good beer, better captain falcon puns.

Canned 1/8/18; drank 2/10/18 @ the Yarchives.
See-through orange/yellow appearance.
A violent pour yielded a huge white head; strong, frothy lace.
Fruit punch, corn syrup & dry wheat notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Bitter pine & mild fruit punch flavors up front; dry wheat & mild urine notes on the finish.
An aggressively awful IPA.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/20/2017. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, lemon, apricot, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passionfruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, lemon, apricot, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passionfruit, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grass, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, lemon, apricot, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, passionfruit, mango, melon, lemon/orange peel, light pepper, pine, light honey, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderate bready/grainy/sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Never overly aggressive. Great mix of juicy/dank hop complexity; nice bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. A very enjoyable offering.
