As I said, the Left Hand Saisons segued into Chocolate-Peanut Butter Porters & Stouts, finishing up with one from Odd Side Ales. Since I had several other Odd Sides in abeyance for The CANQuest (tm), I have decided to stick with them a bit longer for CANother brewery horizontal. Once that finishes up, I will explain my next move. Viva The CANQuest (tm)!
From the CAN: "India Pale Ale with Pink Guava added".
Once again, I realized my earlier initial mistake & treated it as an NEIPA from the outset. This included some in-CAN agitation before initiating the Crack! I then followed the Crack! with a hard, aggro C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. This resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with very good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose smelled guava-tastic! There was a period of time, in the Navy, when I subsisted almost totally on FF&V (fresh fruit & vegetables) with guava being a staple. Yum. Both the fruit & the beer had a tangy citrusiness with a lingering peppery bite.
I would eat them like, and in lieu of, apples, although the cooks were happy to make omelets with them. Given time, they would boil the fruit enough to soften them to be able to be stirred into hot cereal, like oatmeal or grits. People would gawp at my meals, but I was one lean, mean, healthy-eating son of a gun!
This was an incredible beer! It was so evocative of its fruit adjunct as to be almost unbelievable. Most people default to tropical fruits as being outright sweet & a) many are, b) they all have a high fructose sugar content, but c) a lot of them are also tangy, to go with the sweetness. Guava & mango are the two that usually get a look of surprise from people tasting them for the first time.
Not tart, but definitely tangy. Man, this was just the ticket. About halfway through, I decided to accompany it with some Faber Pomegranate Vodka. Perfect! I almost drank this one first among the Dank Juices & then decided to simply ascend alphabetically. Brilliant move on my part since the Mango Peach just didn't quite do it for me. Finish on this one was semi-dry & I was getting ready to cry as the last of it went from glass to mouth. 8=( YMMV.

On their chase for the haziest and juicinest trends in beer, Odd Side Ales brings bold tropical flavors to a New England styled IPA along with the most herbaceous, botanical and hemp driven hops on the planet. Throw in a generous pile of pink guava and we have a drenching and dank beer on our tongues once more.
Hazy gold yet off of turbid, a tall and frothy column begins to build. A tangy perfume of tropical fruit, citrus and herb wafts across the nose in a strong herbal and nearly sherbet-like kind of way. Its early sweetness is candied and pastry-like with hints of agave, taffy and shortbread with an introduction of malt.
But then the hops take over on the middle palate even though the malts simmer firmly underneath. The natural flavors of orange, grapefruit and lime link up with the pink guava additions seamlessly before more of the tropical trends take hold. Hints of mango, passionfruit, kiwi and gooseberry, ripe in their character, all support the pink guava and its papaya character quite well, deep into a moderately bitter bite of grasses, chive, hay and hemp.
Medium bodied and trending malty-dry on the tongue, the fruit acidity adds to the beer's tangy impressions to lighten the body and combat the linger of cereal starch and sweetness. Drier than usual for the style, a great sense of refreshment, drinkability and crispness roll into a gin-like sprucy spice late for a snappy herbal bite.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance- The beer pours a lightly hazed orange color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is a mix of tropical fruits and some hop. The tropical fruit is of a guava, pineapple, tangerine and mango nature and is accompanied by a little bit of a biscuit malt smell. The hop is heaviest of a pine and herbal smell but contains a bit of a grapefruit hop as well. Overall the aroma is sweet and inviting.
Taste- The taste begins with a sweet tropical fruit flavor that was detected in the nose with lots of guava, pineapple and mango. Along with the fruit comes flavors of grapefruit hop and a bit of a more dank herbal flavor. The sweet grows stronger as the taste advances with more and more guava coming to the tongue. A little bit of a hay and grass come at the very end of the taste and leave one with a sweet and moderately hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly thicker with a carbonation level that is lower. For the mix of sweet tropical fruit and the hop blend the feel is pretty nice and makes for an easy sipper.
Overall – A nice easy drinking flavorful tropical hazy IPA. A nice drinking brew overall.

Pours a very cloudy golden color with a thick foamy head. Head retention is very good as is lacing. Nice fruity, juicy guava aroma with minimal piney resin. Juicy grapefruit and guava with a little more piney bitterness. Very good. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Nice juicy IPA from a surprisingly solid local brewery. Hazy yellow color with some nice white head and lingering lacing. Smells of floral and herbal hops, slightly funky. Tastes similarly, along with some malt, corn, grain and surprisingly just a little faint hint of citrus hops - lemon, grapefruit, orange and a little guava. Nice smooth mouthfeel that’s slightly creamy and good carbonation throughout. Will try more from this brewery!

Pale straw yellow hued with white highlights. This is massively hazy and doesn't let light through it. There's a solid inch of creamy, thick, billowy off white on top. The aroma is of tropical guava juice. I'm tasting lots of tropical guava juice and hops. There's a light tropical hop burn in the back of the palate.
The mouth is dangerously smooth.

Hazy light yellow creamy appearance with light head and lacing.
Smell is citrus with an odd funk. Not unappealing, just not normal. I assume this is the guava.
Taste is juicy, sweet with almost a flavor of kids vitamins or something similar. The guava flavor plays it's part without overwhelming.
Mouthfeel is billowy, creamy. Light carbonation.
Overall a delightful beer. I enjoy most flavors of dank juice I try and this is no different.

12 ounce can into a tulip glass. Had 9/14/17.
Pours a lightly hazy yellow, with a two and a half inch foamy head with good retention and a fair amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of guava, orange, some grapefruit and pineapple, pine, light floral hops. The taste is similar- guava, grapefruit, orange, light pineapple, pine, light malt. Got some green onion at first. A low amount of hop bitterness, but a little more in the aftertaste. Smooth, semi-dry, refreshing, a good lighter body, well carbonated.
Enjoyable, the flavor is a bit more complex than the aroma. The guava is prominent, and that’s the point. Worth a try.
