Pours brown with tinge of copper, tan head that lingers nicely. Funky, tart, green apple sourness that I love. My first from Odd Side. Wish I lived where I could get their stuff regularly as I would like to try more after this excellent sour brown ale.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/27/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big tart/sour lemon, lime, peach, plum, apricot, cherry, pear, melon, green apple, red grape, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oak, brown bread, hay, straw, and grass; with lighter notes of cocoa, oaken vanilla, peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, dark/bready malt, and oak barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour lemon, lime, peach, plum, apricot, cherry, pear, melon, green apple, red grape, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oak, brown bread, hay, straw, and grass; with lighter notes of cocoa, oaken vanilla, peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tart/sourness, and light yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour lemon, lime, peach, plum, apricot, cherry, pear, melon, green apple, red grape, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oak, brown bread, hay, straw, grass, peppercorn, cocoa, vanilla, light funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, dark/bready malt, and oak barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness and yeast/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and acidic/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is an outstanding sour brown ale! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, dark/bready malt, and oak barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly lactic/tannic/drying finish. Wonderful well rounded Brett/Lacto complexity; perfectly balanced dark/bready malts and nice oak barrel presence. Not overly lactic, just the right amount of sour/tart character. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
