12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 2/18/2019. Pours slightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big nutty medium roast coffee, wheat, cracker, and white bread dough; with lighter notes of vanilla, cream, chocolate, cocoa, blueberry, blackberry, currant, red grape/wine, herbal, floral, wood, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of coffee, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, wheat, cracker, and white bread dough; with lighter notes of vanilla, cream, chocolate, cocoa, blueberry, blackberry, currant, red grape/wine, herbal, floral, wood, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery hop; and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty medium roast coffee, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, vanilla, cream, chocolate, cocoa, blueberry, blackberry, currant, red grape/wine, herbal, floral, wood, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent hop/coffee flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is an awesome coffee blonde ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Don't prefer it over the regular, but definitely a unique variant with the Ethiopian coffee. Way more fruity/berry notes. Great balance of fruity/nutty coffee complexity, pale/wheat malts, and earthy hops. Minimal residual sweetness from crisp dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example as expected.
