Received from @BigIronH in the NBS BIF #16. Canned on 10/12/2022 so just under 4 weeks when reviewed. Poured into a pint glass. It's cloudy and pours a color between iced tea and ruby with a large, creamy, light khaki-colored head and soapy lacing. It has a really nice smell with apple, raisin, and a buttery malt that simulates pie crust. The taste largely follows the nose with lots of apple, cinnamon, and nutmeg over an earth, sweet malt base. There is a touch of bitterness at the finish. It does a good job of simulating a Fall dessert. It has a crisp, fairly lite mouthfeel with pleasant carbonation. This year's release is 6.1% ABV which gives it decent substance. Overall, Apple Pie Brown succeeds in simulating an apple pie. I wouldn't make a steady diet of this beer but it's certainly pleasant drinking.

As American as apple beer, Odd Side Ales sets off to change the popular moniker with a classic Brown Ale with uncharacteristic use of apple, pie spices and a fall accented mindset.
Deep garnet at it pour, Apple Pie Brown crowns with a mid-level creamy froth. With a bold scent of both apples and baking spices, the chocolaty, nutty and toasty scent of the underlying ale also has a big say. Sweeter in taste, the early impressions of caramel, toffee and the toasty edges of fresh baked brownies share but a few of the malt flavors.
With the malt sweetness holding serve along the middle palate, the boldness of gently stewed apples give a strong cider component to the ale while a followup of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger and vanilla provide a warming spice to bring the toasty, fruity and spicy flavors together in pie-like character. Light in bitterness, the ale relies up its toasty bitterness to help with balance of the lingering sweetness.
Medium-full on the palate, the beer's flavors read quite boldly but its body relaxes as the ale falls lighter and easier on the finish without becoming watery or thin. Its a very drinkable, but very rewarding culinary delight of a beer that lingers like spiced cider propped up with toasted caramel.

Pours a decent dark brown/amber. Nose is apple pie spices and an apple cider note. Taste follows suit. Almost a sweet fresh sliced apple note with the spices underlining that flavor. Not much pie or “baked” taste. Almost just a fresh apple dusted with cinnamon flavor. Feel is chewy but crisp. Overall, fairly average.
