Canned 9/19/22
And we have yet another Odd Side beer from BigIronH’s BIF box. I’ve seen plenty of Stouts with raspberry before, but I think this is the first one that’s bourbon barrel aged as well, not to mention the addition of vanilla. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours a very dark brown with a finger of creamy medium brown head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
I’m surprised the raspberry is so present over a year after this was canned. I’m picking up on aromas of tart raspberry, cocoa powder, vanilla bean, dry oak, light roast coffee, sweet whiskey, molasses, and burnt caramel
It’s pretty similar in taste though the raspberry is a bit more subdued. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting cocoa powder, light roast coffee, brown sugar, jammy raspberry, dry oak, molasses, burnt caramel, dark toast, and vanilla bean. The swallow brings notes of jammy raspberry, molasses, vanilla ice cream, acidic coffee, cocoa powder, brown sugar, earthy whiskey, and burnt caramel
A medium full body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a silky beer. Finishes mostly dry with a balanced sweetness
This one isn’t anything amazing but it’s definitely fun. I dig it
