Nashoba Valley Peach Lambic
22 oz brown bottle
Purchased at the brewery in Bolton, MA

Pours a peachy golden yellow with mini carbonation bubbles. A decent head on top.

Whiffs of rotting fruit and spicy vinegar.

A sweet juicy peach base with a sharp vinegar bite and mango fruit. Tartness and sour blasts with a funky yeast quality from the fermentation process. This is without doubt a difficult style to produce and I like the effort here.

Some of those classic lambic flavors are here and the price is beyond reasonable at $4.95 a bottle at the brewery/winery.

I was in the midst of a large beer run and I kept looking at this bottle. I've been to the winery for lunch and of course had the wines. I picked this up on a whim based on that way back when lunch experience being positive. I could be rambling here or justifying that one more beer. Ok, on to the review:

A - The bottle was filled to within a 1/4 inch of the cap. Yeah, extra beer. Pours into an instant white foam that fills my glass. Fairly quickly settles back into beer. Massive cascades of bubbles emanate from the sides of my glass. I don't usually comment on lacing as you can't taste it but no lacing on this one despite all the foam antics
S - Wonderfully tart with a an almost pinoir aspect and a touch of bready malts.
T - similar to the aroma. Sorry, I don't get notes of peach. Rather I'm indulged in a wonderful tart ale that has low acidity and phenomenal wine and cider notes.
M - light to medium bodied, highly carbonated, crips and dry finish.
D - incredibly drinkable. I wish I had bought 6 of these instead of the 1 to try on a whim.

I think I need to figure out another trip south to get more of this. This is a great wild ale for summer drinking!

22 oz bottle. 14 oz sample. This brew pours a very bright light golden color with a very mild head over top. There is a nice continuous carbonation working up the brew. The clarity is so good, it looks like it glows. The aroma brings a mild peach fruityness over top of a mild sour and tart acidity. It is a little distant. It hits initially with a tartness on the tip of my tongue and a more mild sourness towards the back and sides. The fruity character feel distant as well. It tends to come through more on my burps. The finish is a little musty, making me think this one might be a little aged...which is good. The flavor is also a bit distant; not as strong as I would want it to be. Mouthfeel is moderate with a very mild carbonation. I think this is a nice and drinkable brew. I think this one would benefit from a touch more aroma and flavor, but for what it has, it is pretty good. I am enjoying it.

Gushing foam immediately after opening, a real leaper.
Glass fills mostly with airy, spongelike, white foam.
Patience and repeated top-offs fill the glass most of the way, revealing a pale, hazy, light gold body.
Carbonation is persistant, with multiple strands jutting upwards and sustaining a thin cap on top, less any lacework.
Aromatics are more wild than tart, bretty and fruity with some peppery notes. Far from a lambic-like nose, but nice nonetheless.
Mildly tart with a hint of peach fuzz, hints of wet straw and lemon pith.
Medium bodied and lively, crispish and drying.
Pallet is funky and fruity.
Faintly peachy, hardly identifyable, but beyond that there's some nice complexities as it warms up.
Drying grapeskins, lemon zest, crushed appleseeds, with hints of tangerine pulp, wet cedar, and hard cider.
Finishes dry, crisp, and mildly tart.

As a "peach Lambic", this one falls flat, but as an "American wild ale" it has significant merit.

Light yellow color. Caramel and burnt kettle corn in the aroma, with hints of wild yeast (but it produces dirty nasty smells) and a light and unauthentic peach smell. Naked Lambic? Is this unoaked? If it is, it shouldn’t be. Flavor is initially metallic, with a dirty, unclean tart flavor, which produces nasty descriptors. Burnt kettle corn still follows on the finish. This won’t kill me, will it?

Sampled on-tap at the brewery/winery.

This beer poured a cloudy, golden color with white foam that settled. There was a good stream of carbonation from the bottom of the glass. The smell was tart and wild with some lactic aroma and a light fruitiness beneath all this. The taste was lightly tart, a bit milder than the smell implied, with some maltiness and a very, very light peach flavor. The mouthfeel was tart and smooth with medium body and good carbonation. This was a decent beer.

Thanks to hopdog for this...
Appears a transparent light gold with a small, soapy white head that quickly fades away. No lacing is left behind.
Smell is of a light sour funk-filled lambic with a touch of peach, that doesn't overpower.
Taste is of some funky barnyard sour apples and a touch of peach.
Mouthfeel is thin with the Granny Smith apples and peaches clinging to the palate. Slightly warming.

This offering from Nashoba pours a blonde color that leaves a heavy white lace that quickly disappears to nothing. The aroma is grassy, sweet, fruity, and spicy back drop. The taste starts off as unripened peach, slowly taking you to a touch of sweetness, I can also detect a mustiness as I taste, finishing with a strong carbonation that helps liven up this brew. I also taste a slight diacetyl aspect in the finish, a decent style overall worth a try.

A bit on the over carbonated side. Got about 1/2 beer and 1/2 very light, bubbly head that disappeared very quick. Very pale gold in color and perfectly clear. Nose is almost non-existent. Just little bits of peach but not as much as I was expecting with that peachy flavor. Speaking of which, the flavor is simply peach. Just some slight, sweet malts toward the back. Just a bit tart--also not as tarty as I was expecting. However, the tartness came out more as the beer warmed up. Very light feeling. Almost crisp. Kind of odd for the style.

22oz bottle purchased from Julio's, Westboro, MA.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, oh, this one's a foamer, 5" of off-white head over 1/2" of cloudy light straw brew. Bubbles are bursting so fast and hard, sounds like bacon frying, and that was the gentle pour. Head fades gradually, with sporadic foamy lacing. Aroma is effervescent, with light sour and peach tones. Taste is reasonable tartness, although I will admit to a light fruitiness, I can't commit to it actually making me think peaches, and finishes nicely dry. Mouthfeel is, even with all the bubbling, still somewhat gassy, but past that is quite smooth over the tongue. Creamy, smooth, and surprisingly light, for the style anyways. Drinkabilty would also be better with a bit more CO2 control, but still is very impressive. This is one I'll watch for next fall.
