Handsome coppery amber color with plenty of flavor in the pint shaker. Sparkly on the tongue with average carbonation. Some grainy and resiny notes in the aroma.
Flavors start with a sweet malty sensation and a medium body. The hops are piney and resiny. Finish is rather dry with a mineral touch. the rye is pretty sharp and intensifies the hop bitterness.
Overall, this gets quite bitter but it's an interesting and flavorful version of a rye. Brewery calls it a "Red Rye." On tap at Leroy's Kitchen in Coronado. [transcribed notes from 24 May 2014 tasting]
