Now that I have begun really diving into the Bottle backlog here at Chez Woody, I am unstoppable! Yes, it means suspending The CANQuest (tm) for the moment, but the thought of being rid of these pesky bottles for once & for all is so heartening that I almost do not have words. These next bunch were all purchases through Tavour & as I have said repeatedly, I have no real beef with them. It was their inflexible local shipper + the continual adding to the backlog that led me to part ways.

From the Bottle: "Mother Earth Brew Co. and Melvin Brewing Present Four Seasons of Mother Earth Spring Collaboration Ale Imperial India Pale Ale"; "Vintage 2018"; "Description: A massively hopped Imperial India Pale Ale with 6 hop additions and featuring PNW Lupulin Powder. Brewed in the spirit of friendship with Melvin Brewing"; "Grain Bill: Pale 2-Row, Munich, Carapils, Dextrose"; "Hops: Columbus, El Dorado, Nelson, Centennial, Citra & Mosaic"; "IBU: 100+ SRM: 7".

I Pop!ped the cap & started a slow, gentle C-Line pour into the awaiting glass. Once more, my efforts were rewarded with the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with very good retention, leaving a load of lacing in its wake. Color was a solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose held a brilliant minty coolness, definitely evocative of PNW hops. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, a bit light for the style. The taste was quite minty, very bitter & the malts were giving it a very toasty, wooden quality. If they had told me that this had been oak-aged or aged with oak chips, I would not have been surprised. Finish was dry, bitter & with an unabating woodenness. Mmm. YMMV.

Bomber from Albertsons. Bright orange / amber body, small bubbly head, streaky lacing. Musty, citrusy aroma, orange peel. Taste follows with some up front hoppiness, kind of astringent, dank hops, caramel malts. Dries out at the finish, bitterness lingers for a bit.
