mother earth can do absolutely no wrong right now, especially in the hoppy styles, this is a trend chasing cold ipa and it blows most of its peers out of the water, its a style i am coming to love, and they execute it to perfection here. i love how light the malt is, how clear and refined this is, but still with enough body where the hops dont swim in it, and its about as fresh as can be on tap right now at the downtown taproom. looks only a shade richer than a pils, average white head on it, radiant clarity. they should tell us what the hops are but they dont. nose of fresh pineapple, kumquat, meyer lemon, and juicy pear at the peak of ripeness, weedy too, but not sticky and rich and heavy due to it, super simple and clean malt base. the flavor is great, these hops really pop, green grape, yellow peach, real pineapple, orange candy, and rosewater even. crisp almost lager ferment, texture not flavor left on the palate after the swallow, and near dry, bubbly enough, but not moving too rapidly either. this is a drinker, but it also invites you to stay awhile, lovely hop complexion here, aided no doubt by the colder ferment, and even though there is no bitterness, this is boldly flavored enough to still hit like ipa. seems especially suited to hot summer weather, but it warms up well too. loved it!
