another one from the project x series, these are coming fast and furious. nice brew, objectively speaking, not sure why many of these are creeping into the imperial abv range, less can be more, but these guys are on the north side of the line more often than not. this one is a little heavy too, not because of alcohol, but because of haze, starchy grain body and even more residual sugar than i am accustomed to from them, still a wicked hop profile, but this is a little more than it needs to be overall, not the most repeatable pint, even that much feels like quite a bit, although its juicy and not green or bitter and it tastes nice, so i drink it down quick for what it is. dense cloudy light to medium orange tone to this, short and short lived head from the tap. aroma is peachy, candied orange, green grass, a little dried mango and dried apricot fruity sweetness too, a just a bit more malt character than the last couple of these have had, fuller for sure. the flavor is less distinct and more generically fruity, but the hops are fresh as heck, i get some pineapple in the mix now, lots of citrus, and some dankness unexpectedly, oily and palate coating and not just from malt residuals. there is nice freshness to this, i wish the grain and the sweet and the abv were all backed down a little bit, the hops would stand out more, as it is now, its a touch muddled and not as striking as the best beers in this series. it could also stand a little more bitterness, it never really finishes. that said, the series has been epic overall and that is a really high bar to try to keep up, these guys no doubt still do some of the best hoppy beer in idaho even if this is maybe not their very best, at least for my preferences...
