Head Case is the first in the series to feature our new crop year of Citra and Galaxy hops, which are both showing really strong stone fruit, tropical fruit, citrus, and ripe berry notes. Utilizing a “cool-pooling” technique to preserve non-volatile hop flavor compounds, we are able to extract maximum mid-palate flavor and aroma, while not pulling through any additional bitterness, resulting in a super soft, smooth finish.

HOPS: MOSAIC, CITRA, RAKAU

This is pretty impressive, not sure what I would critique here too much. Beautiful soft golden haze from the tap pour in Meridian; juicy, soft orange juice aromas combine with notes of stone fruit, apricot, tropical fruit, melon…smooth, flavorful fruity hops throughout the nose and palate, and a mild bitterness from the hop presence, very fresh tasting and juice-like.

another one. this series keeps on going, really some of the best hoppy beer in the greater boise area, i look forward to each one of these, and even after a couple of more generic ones in recent releases, the stoke level remains high for the next one every time. its crazy that its citra and mosaic in here, because this is such a samey combo yet the beer presents as fairly unique, obviously some cool technique in play here but also that must mean the galaxy hops are really bringing the heat! this is pale orange tinted, super creamy white headed with awesome retention and lace, no fallback at all, and not so much haze that its visual brightness is impaired, cleaner looking to me than some others have been. the nose and taste show about the same, ripe melon up front, obvious peach and apricot too, then more lemongrass and lime leaf in the middle fragrant and herbal, and a unified back end with pear and white grape nuance, although some kicking up bitterness hits then too, and it finishes robustly. i like it being so dry, the hops pop hard on the swallow, and the grain is earthy and simple, out of the way, fresh, full enough feeling for the hops to carry, but not weighing this down much. definitely still a pint beer, although i guess they are creeping up in abv a bit too, got a little buzzed up on these. nice fruitiness here, nothing catty from the mosaic at all, and a brisk and tidy ferment. enjoyable, very well made, but still not in my top few of these...

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Hazy yellow with a one finger foamy white head. Fruity aroma, part tropical, part citrus, part pine. Taste starts with a blast of citrus which quickly turns over to piney hops, before settling into ripe tropical fruit and melon. Hops bring quite a bite, and stick around on the palate for a bit.
