SUMMER '23

COLLABORATION DIPA

Teaming up with our friends at Bale Breaker Brewing Co., we designed a banger of an IPA using Galaxy, Citra from an exceptional crop year, and HBC 586 - one of the most promising experimental varieties available which highlights big notes of peach, passionfruit, apricot and grapefruit. Expect a bitter, dry, and super clean brew with tons of mid-palate complexity, and a bright, hoppy finish.

Pours an opaque golden with a large head. Aroma is almost dank citrus with the taste being the same, with a mild bitterness and creamy mouthfeel. Very good DIPA. BOD 6-9-2023

Well sometimes you just have to try a second attempt at writing a review when the first one in progress just vanishes. Thanks computers. Anyhoo, I've liked this four seasons series of beers, we had this one in late summer/early fall 2023. This is the only hoppy one I've had, I think the others were stouts.

Pours brassy, leaning into light amber, 1/3" off white head. Looks imperial. Aroma popped in many directions, grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, orange, apricot, strawberry, weed. They chose a financially questionable amount of hops it seems.

Taste is a big bitter ipa full on the imperial vein. Moderate impression of alcohol on it. Even though none of these seem like bittering hops, its got a big appreciated push in that direction. Its not juicy so much as its citric biting. The pineapple angle feels underripe thereby giving it a more citric and pine than tropical influence, as well as the bitterness. Sticky resin applies here. Too many of these and you'll be hungover and hard up.

very good, done with bale breaker, showing its strength a bit, and slightly sweet, but not overly malty in that regard, balanced, a big balance, but balanced. honey colored, unfiltered looking, frothy headed from the tap at the downtown location, fizzy enough, but substantial looking too. the nose is great, i love 586 hops right now, and they pop in this, candied lemon and lemon bar, green and white grape and white cranberry, ripe melon, so good. citra is bright here too, and i get a lime note from the galaxy along with some herbal bitterness. all of this is there in the flavor, and the hop profile overall is wicked, i just wish the body were a little lighter and the overall beer a bit drier, like its fruity and summery in flavor but palate coating, sticky, and big in feel, even without that much actual flavor from the grain, to me a little distracting and we lose the delicate (and perhaps most exciting) parts of these hops, although i guess as an imperial delicate was probably not the goal, still, it feels a bit like a bully. that said, the oily palate coating hops are great, and the grain works where is flashes in. the ferment is noninvasive, and the bitterness helps it finish semi quick. really good overall, two excellent brewers of hoppy beer predictably score a winner in this style space. ive come to look forward to the beers in this four seasons series, and this one hits. nicely done, great use of the 586!

16oz can pours cloudy and orange in color with a creamy white head that laces well; the aroma hits you effortlessly with tons of apricot and floral stone fruit. Juicy and fruity on the palate with a nice dose of simple tropical fruit and citrus juice. Big hoppy aromas and flavors with a nice balance of creamy body, malt character and sweetness, making it an easy drinker for an Imperial IPA.

16oz can at share. Golden pour, clousy, small foamy white head. Aroma is hoppy, as expected with a Bale Breaker collaboration, citrus, pine, fruity. Taste adds a little juice to the mix, citrusy, earthy, grassy, but all done in an easy drinking, approachable style. Smooth.
