IPA Needs A Name

a bold and sturdy west coast type, modern west coast though, lighter in color and on malt complexion overall, unfiltered looking, and without face melting bitterness, just middle of the road there. fresh and tasty on tap at their downtown spot, neat to see some new flavors on our recent visit, all hops too, which is far and away what they do best. this isnt the most original hop profile, but the beer is fresh, balanced, and good. definite pine and oily dankness in the nose, not quite weedy, but definitely woodsy with some sweetness in support from the grain, a honey vibe to it, a little longer boiled richness too, and a neutral ferment. the flavor brings a little more nuance on the hop side, bitter orange and candied lemon, and green tea, but its all pretty subtle and well behind the spruce and overt generic hoppiness, not necessarily a bad thing. more than medium bodied but not heavy either, and i dont mind the lingering grain to offset the bitterness this finishes with. to me this is good without being distinctive or memorable really at all, but it being a little more hearty sets it up nicely for the fall weather thats finally rolling in, and i think its a nice change of pace from their usual ipa lineup in here.
