this is well executed but not as light and drinkable as it could be, but its tasty, if a little bland next to their marzen that they also had on tap when i was in. this is pale, lighter than honey colored, with good clarity and a lasting inch plus of white head. the nose is only subtly german to me on both grain and yeast, understated, slightly toasted and nutty with a cheerio cereal vibe, pretty basic, real light on hops, cleanly fermented and with good water chemistry, but it smells and tastes a little plain overall, not like something it missing, but just like its diluted a bit, odd considering it actually has quite a bit of body for what it is, i expected the mouthfeel to be quite a bit lighter, which is in fact often the case with mother earth beers, i find even the lighter ones a tad filling most of the time. i do think its cool they are doing some innovation beyond the hazy stuff, and that they seem to be doing more and more new beers lately, it was getting tired for a minute. this scratches the itch, but is one of the less exciting takes on this style ive had, doesnt quite check all the boxes, malty without being sweet, less yeast character than i like but clean, a professionally done but also lackluster brew overall, did not compare to their much more impressive marzen. this is the first time i have been to mother earth without having something hoppy in a long time, maybe ever.
