for me the more robust and better of the two oktoberfest beers these guys made this fall, a little richer color than their fest beer but not any heavier to drink really, as i didnt find that one all that light despite how the styles usually differ a bit there. rusty orange colored brew and perfectly clear, with a high inch plus of airy white head on it and great retention. it smells a little sweet, biscuit and honey, toffee and maple, some nutty character too, light on the german yeast notes like the festbier is, more more distinctly german on the malt side, some vienna character too. not that sweet to taste though, nicely balanced with some light richness but its also deeply earthy and bready and plays more in that space than a sugary one to my palate. i get some soft handed noble hops here, nothing too robust at all, a doughy thing to the yeast, good minerality, and a baked freshness, heartiness, and warmth that make it cozy and appealing, real nice fall drinker, although this is still not the kind of thing mother earth does best, despite the intangibles all being there, good carbonation, smooth texture, and flavor contributions from all three elements. this has just enough personality to stand out from the crowd of these. so good so see some new stuff in here!
