This decadent winter-warmer features blends of multiple vintages of our award-winning Russian Imperial Stout to lay down a velvety base that spends a minimum of 6 months in Bourbon Barrels. During secondary fermentation, we added 10 lbs per barrel of USA-grown mixed berries into the barrels for additional conditioning time to create a bright, fresh, authentic fruit flavor that goes beautifully with the rich, roasty, chocolatey malt flavors of the Imperial stout. The beer is intentionally left full bodied, with enough residual sugar to balance the hefty ABV.

triple berry imperial stout, definitely a base beer that has been cycled through a number of times, or darn enough near it that it feels weird to present this as something new. its adjunct dependent like a lot of their big dark barrel stuff, insanely sweet, and tasty in small doses, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. dark brown and a little murky from the tap, some fizz on the top, maybe the faintest color tint from the fruit, but this is pretty dark. the aroma is sugary, vanilla and molasses and not quite enough roast for this to present as balanced, dark chocolate for sure, and less whiskey than wood but both are there, i like those elements in this quite well, needed. the flavor is long and layered, the base stout is familiar, roasty but sugary too, and i find myself right away wishing for a little more tang from the fruit, blackberry jam in front, very little blueberry to me, even at temperature, and the raspberry somewhere in between, but with all the dark grain and sweetness, it presents like generic fruitiness rather than varietal specific berries. a hint of licorice to this, a vanilla warmth from the whiskey with the alcohol, more sweet than boozy though, and a pleasant linger. a little goes a long way here, this is heavily flavored, tasty but also maybe slightly inauthentic somehow, the fruit just hits a little forced. that said, it has a big luxurious body and a little more carbonation activity than it looks like. good but not great.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Dark brown pour with some deep violet hues, silky, patchy tan head. Aroma is chocolate and berries. Berries pop out more in the taste, sweet, fruity. Mellow roasty, chocolate notes in the background.

Triple Berry Imperial Stout - pours pitch black with a mocha-colored head that I swear has a purple hue to it. Very good sweet notes, roasty and chocolatey with tons of fruity berry character. Notes of vanilla and caramel in the charred oak as well. Really nice overall, and berries in a stout (especially a bba one) is sometimes hard to pull off!
