its cool they do some pilot size batches now and finally have some rotation in their taprooms, but this one needs a bit more research and development if you will, a little sloppy and uninspiring to say the least, but hey, at least its cold and wet! blonde and clear, not much head, a little relaxed on carbonation for a style i generally want to feel vibrant, and to me a bit curious in the nose, the yeast is underwhelming, like this couldnt have been lagered very long or very cool, because its slightly soapy, doesnt smell familiar as a strain but thats probably more a product of its conditions of fermentation than of its origins. some hops there too, but its doesnt seem old world, and this presents as a little amateurish. the flavor follows, some basic continental pils malt, they got that part right, some front end sweetness isnt out of place, but it never quite gets resolved, there is a floral note in here, a thin and sort of cheap feel and taste, and the ferment is off. this comes across as almost shockingly pedestrian for these guys, like have they really become a one trick pony with the hazy stuff? the cream ales are diabetic, the huge stouts are adjunct dependent, and a few of these recent pilot ones have me almost concerned. a basic lager of seriously lackluster execution...
