a collaboration with roadhouse, new zealand hops, light and beautifully hopped, but maybe not quite as epic and memorable as it could be, with two outstanding makers of ipa coming together. looks super light, clear, brass colored and with an average white head on from the tap that quickly settles. the nose is obviously southern hemisphere on the hops, but i smell a decent bit of pale malt here too, some lime, green melon, cut flowers, and white tea, almost perfume level pungency, sweet for a second, clean though too, lemon, subtle sativa dankness but neither oily nor bitter to me. flavor is cool, all the hops are early, well not all of them, but it seems like the intensity and peak flavor is there right off the hop (pun intended). i get sweet cooked orange, brighter lemon, faint green pepper too before yellow peach, floral honey, and some resinous sticky character, very fruity, well grounded by the grain, which has some sweetness to it, and clean on the ferment, slight almost carrot character to me, and its a little curious at the end, but distinctive. i would guess some hop product in this, intensity suggests it, the early start does too, and it warms up to coconut, pear, and white wine character, very good. medium bodied, a tad light on carbonation, and with just a bit of late sweetness too, not crisp or anything, but tons and tons of space for these hops to go both deep and wide. i am slightly confused about the collaboration though, seeing another between them called surreal kush, not sure what is different here, maybe made at mother earth instead of our at roadhouse? if anyone knows fill me in, but it appears to be a separate beer, certainly presented that way at the downtown boise mother earth location. fun project, ill have to seek out the surreal kush and compare. distinctive hop complexion to this for sure.
