BBA MEXICAN CHOCOLATE IMPERIAL STOUT
Our Spring release is rich with whiskey and oak from a two-year aging process in toasted bourbon casks. After blending, we added ancho chilies, cayenne peppers, Saigon cinnamon, and cocoa nibs to create the perfect Mexican chocolate inspired beer. The chilies help to balance the alcohol and give depth of flavor. Dark chocolate adds its own flair, while also helping to meld the different spices together. This is a big full-bodied stout that is best enjoyed slightly warmed.

one of the best versions of these to come out in a long time, a long long time, mexican chocolate, chilies and cocoa nibs and cinnamon, bold but not overdone, and just delicious overall, not as diabetic as so many have been, and with a little more bourbon to me, although thats still not really a strong component of this, i kind of always wonder if they keep reusing barrels or something, there just isnt all that much barrel character in most of these, but it could be that they are so flavored its just lost to that, but its better here, and this seems on a higher quality level. good carbonation on it, nice to see in a big stout like this, black in the glass with nice shine. the nose is a little relaxed compared to the flavor but it sets it up really well, light smoke from the ancho, warming cinnamon, definitely some heat, dark chocolate, molasses, espresso crema, nice roast level, oak and char, subtle vanilla and honey from the whiskey, chili pepper first, very nice proportions. the flavor does carry some sweetness but the lingering spice balances it brilliantly, pretty consistent middle of the road heat start to finish, a touch hot in the throat but i want that in a chili beer more often than not, and i think the dosage is awesome overall. some bourbon but not a ton again from one of these, raisin and black fig, some good bitterness from the roast and also the nibs, unsweetened bakers chocolate to me with the dark grain, nice low end here. modest wood, spicy cinnamon too, lovely in the finish with the peppers, cayenne is a cool touch, less common in a beer i feel like, and distinctive in this one. lots of body, long and smooth with enough richness to make the afterburn really pleasant. overall this is wicked, super dialed in, awesome mix of flavors, and one of the better riffs on this theme ive had, a step short of abraxas and that ilk, but its pretty darn good. a recently highlight for mother earth for sure!

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Near black pour, thin ring of brown head. Aroma is cinnamon, chocolate and chilis. Taste follows with some immediate sweetness, then heat from the peppers. Cocoa underlies the whole thing, backed up a nice layer of toasty malts. Peppers outshine the cinnamon here for sure.

Love this one; 16oz can pours out an opaque and vinous jet black, no head...strong combination of rich, decadent chocolate dessert notes, spices and hot peppers, with warm bourbon and coffee notes as well...coconut, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon...nice mild but present cayenne pepper spic on the finish...rich, sticky full body...they nailed the Mexican Hot Chocolate vibes. Low carbonation, but that's not a deal breaker on a sipper like this one.
