simplicity at its finest here in the latest small batch release from these guys, which as finally brought at least a small element of interest to their tap list, which has been more or less the same bag of tricks for way too long, nice to get some diversity, this is just hopped with krush, everyones new favorite, and it may also be fresh hops, it certainly drinks like it is, just picked freshness to me nose and palate, simple grain base thats supporting but out of the way, a clean enough ferment, and just the hops doing their thing in this golden colored pint of hop brilliance. the nose and taste are easy to place as krush, fresh zested orange and lemon meet a suggestion of generic red berry, ripe mango, a hint of coconut flesh, and some muddled lemongrass that takes it almost tropical, really juicy and fruit forward without being cloying, low bitterness but its balanced anyway, this is pale ale not ipa, and it drinks like that. some light bready character to the malt underneath, an almost soapy estery thing to the hops, terpene forward, lovely center of the tongue punchy character, smooth and somewhat oily from the hops, a touch green but in a fresh way not an overdosed way, good carbonation and overall really flavorful and good, a cool expression of these hops, unmolested by other elements, very pure to me, and highly successful. krush makes most beer taste good, but this is especially well done, one of my favorites from these guys in awhile, but all the hoppy stuff has been hitting lately!
