May 13th, 2015 - There's not nearly enough Irish Red Ales in this town, so it's good to see Mother Earth helping to fill in the gap with this big, bold smelling concoction. The smell is dense with caramel, cotton candy, bubble gum and funnel cake, bursting from the top like a vapor volcano. The flavor is lighter than the aroma suggests, with a nice thin body as per Irish regulations. But this doesn't prevent the aftertaste from leaving a long caramel apple taste after each sip. Even though the style is lighter than a big burly ale, it still registers as rich, deep and delicious with a distinctive sweetness.

On tap at Mother Earth Brew Co. in Vista, CA.
Pours a clear dark crimson brown with a light tan head that fades to nothing. No lacing on this one. Smell is good but pretty straightforward with malt and caramel aromas. Taste is also of malt and caramel with a slightly funky flavor. There is a mild roasty bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with some nice aromas and flavors.
