Appearance: A big pop when the cap was popped and it pours all foam, leading to a very rocky head above the slightly hazy ice tea colored liquid; webby lacing
Smell: Caramel and earthy hops
Taste: Caramel and earthy flavors verging into a rather bitter finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body but over-carbonated
Overall: I am not a big amber fan but occasionally I find one I like; this is not one of those times
Thanks, xJMFCx, for the opportunity

Poured from an aluminum bottle into a nonic pint glass.
Deep chestnut to mahogany red browned body color. Very fine carbonation through the body if hard to see since it's quite dark. Head manages about two fingers but has a big light tan styrofoam consistency and top. Soupy and fine looking in the bubbles with lots of pock marking.
This smells like a total cigar box. Huge cedar and wood notes all over, like walking into a smoking shop and wood hall. It's unfortunately the only dominant note, with nothing else to get past, but it is such a good one. Goes from balsam to pine and back too woody cedar and clove. Just barely perhaps a touch of caramel sweetness poking out.
First sip is just bringing nothing but wood and tannic dryness. Huge cedar notes, bitter woody oils almost like varnish. Heavy phenols and rich smoke quality getting into rauchbier like territory but not exactly. Cedar notes are overpowering everything else with nothing else to detect on the palate. The mouthfeel is surprisingly weak and thin, which would hopefuly get some semblage of malt character, but being so wet it's impossible to nearly pick something out.
Overall with time it gets a little more tolerable, but the cedar quality on this is just way too much, this needs to be toned down, and have some of the caramel and sweet malt get on the palate to balance and tone things down.

Pours a five+ finger khaki head that fades very slowly leaving a some lace. Clear red/amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Woody nose and flavor is cedar/wood, some sharpness from the hops. Linger bitter aftertaste. $8 for a 16oz gold can from Vintage Lady Harpers Valley, WV

Very malty, moderately nutty, and a touch sweet, with light fruity specialty malt character, and a fairly bitter finish. There's a touch of hop astringency. Hop flavoring is resiny, but malt is at the forefront. Doesn't really mesh well.

1 PINT aluminum bottle
Served in a nonic pint glass
L - It is a really dark amber. I would call it tea colored with amber highlights. There is a generous tan head that lasts awhile.
S - I get some caramel, toffee, toast, and cocoa.
T - The cedar comes through in the taste. The Fuggle hops make a nice balance. The caramel begins to come through as it warms. It starts sweetening up. The toast comes out as well. The cedar lingers in the aftertaste.
F - Medium to full
O - It was bottled in June and has held up well. I like the aluminum bottle, but it was almost five dollars for the single. It was decent and worth a try.
