We've taken this Weizenbock to a whole new level. The malt an fruitiness of this German wheat beer melds beautifully with the flavors gained from aging 11 months in Smooth Ambler whiskey barrels. Like a whiskey river, this beer flows smoothly, speaks to our heritage, and gently sooths our souls. Cheers!

Pours dark copper with reddish auburn highlights and is gem clear. A brief, fine khaki head reaches one-quarter inch before immediately collapsing to a thin veil. Fine lace is left on the wall of a PBGC American Lager pint glass.
The aroma is filled with rich rye pumpernickle, plums, and grapes. Faint whiskey and morrell mushrooms for added interest.
Flavor follows the aroma with a whiskey bite and lots of rye. It is sweet with light bitterness. Alcohol is a bit sharp, even from a bottle dated 7-11-18. With almost two years of age, it has retained the alcohol, while developing a long, sweet finish.
A medium body with soft texture like angora. Carbonation is fine and faint. Alcohol is strong and warm. There is a lot of residual sugar.
Weizenbock is such a nice style, and, in my opinion, there are far too few examples. I enjoyed this one on a not-so-sunny Memorial Day after work well done on the deck.

Pours transparent and brown with a ruby tinge, when catching the light, and a half-finger of head. A bright yogurt aroma on the nose, with cherry and bready yeast rolls. Minimal oxidation, but also only very modest whiskey or barrel character. I was hoping for more given the name. Light clove phenols.
