Poured nice and black with a little head from a growler. Smells nice with hints of coffee and chocolate. Not overpowering. Taste is smooth with hints of coffee and chocolate. Quite understated compared to many other black lagers I've had. Lacks the smokey punch and carbonation. That does make it an easy drinker though and all in all it's pretty good.l A good effort from Bridge Brew, would drink again.

Tap
Pours black with a white head that retains as a film.
Smells of light caramel and barley malt.
Smokey flavor with caramel malt and mild dry hop bitterness.
Medium body with a sting of carbonation on the back of the tongue.
Pretty solid dark lager, good drinkability, would have again.

Pours a brownish black color with virtually no head atop it. Leaves some lace on the way down. Smells of coffee and chocolate with a pilsner malt backbone. The aroma seems a bit heavy on the coffee for the style. The flavor follows the aroma fairly well, with a flavor that seems more porter like than lager like. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet sugary mouthfeel. Not a bad brew, but I've had better Schwatz before.

Bridge Brewing's Black Lager has a dark brown body with ruby edges. There is basically no head on it at all.
The aroma has a good bit of roasted malt and puffs of smoke. Definitely some hops in the background.
This is a pretty good smoked lager. Roasted malts are featured prominently, with a good bit of dark bread. The smoke isn't powerful, but it's there in the background, providing depth and enough smoke to keep me happy. The interesting thing about this lager is that it is pretty heavily hopped, which I haven't encountered in many smoked beers. The hops supply a good bit of citrus and a moderate amount of bitterness.
The mouthfeel is just a little bit under-carbonated, but not a serious problem.
This was the first beer I tried from Bridge, and I like it. It's an interesting take on the schwarzbier style, and it's worth checking out if you run into it anywhere.

Appearance: dark brown in color with a short one finger head. Some lacing developed while the glass emptied.
Smell: lovely roasted malts and a hint of dark chocolate created a wonderful aroma.
Taste: roasted malts, hint of dark chocolate, soft fruity sweetness, a bit of citrus, and a moderate bitterness creates a well balanced and flavorful beer.
Mouthfeel: mildly crisp to start, smoother at the finish. The flavors linger on the tongue for a bit. Medium bodied beer.
Drinkability: one of the better schwarzbiers I have had in a while. Easily my favorite beer from Bridge Brew Works. Very easy to drink.
