Massive, erupting, billowing beige head
So other than massive head, it's dark and opaque.
Nice piney hops are almost muted by an almost anise maltiness.
Taste is fairly all over the place. Starts out with that anise thing, quickly moved along to what can only be described as sacharin sweetened corn syrup and finished in a patch of molasses covered rye.
It's a little bad but a little good as well. It's got an intriguing quality but again, It's a little all over the place

Pours like black coffee. Head is an inch of light Carmel brown foam. Retention is decent and leaves a curtain of lace. Nose is of slightly dark fruit and citrus hops. Taste has an initial twinge of hops but then quickly yields to a very roasted malt char. It is almost like eating a burnt biscuit. Overall not what I'm looking for in a black IPA.

Aluminum pint bottle.
Pours opaque black, dark brown around the edges where the light can penetrate. A wisp of tan lacing is the only head.
Smells of piney hops and roasted coffee.
Flavor is of roasted coffee, mesquite, brown sugar, and dry woody hops. Maple and a hint of bacon in there too.
Medium to fuller body with stinging carbonation on the tongue.
Very nice dark ale, tends as much towards porter as it does IPA, but also really its own thing. I've never had a beer quite like this one. Lots of good characteristics here, especially a nice unique flavor. Try this one if you can.

On tap at Jug & Kilt, Huntington
A- pours deep and dark black color with just a bit of light creeping through, creamy off white head has good retention and solid lacing down the glass
S- Toasty and malty aroma up front with some notes of coffee, caramel, piney resin and earthy hops
T- Dark malty base gives a slight flavor of coffee with some smoky roasted notes, piney and herbal hops comes through mid-palate with some fresh grassy notes, fruity esters follow, with a dry finish that lingers more herbal/earthy hop
M- Medium body with moderate carbonation, slightly foamy mouthfeel with a smooth and crisp finish
O- Nice piney hops flavors balanced by a dark malty base with notes of coffee. This is a sipper, although the ABV isn't that noticeable. Full flavored and a nice new addition to their lineup

Hap on tap yesterday at Pies & Pints in Fayetteville,WV.A cool little place in a cool town to have some local beer and kick ass pizza.Came in a snifter a deep color color with a nicely formed off white head atop.Aromas were on the sweeter side with chocolate and brown sugar notes, some pine resin did show through a little. The beer seemd even bigger than it's size with a sweeter and alcoholic edge to it,brown sugar notes were big, resiny pine hop flavors in the finish. Not bad but it packs a punch.
