First up I've gotta say I have no idea what a Feijoa is, other than what Google tells me: it's a fruit from a flowering plant in the myrtle family. It's been added to the beer, and I can taste what I'd describe as pomegranate and fig in the beer, but I have no idea if that's the Feijoa. I assume it is!
It pours a light golden yellow. The head quickly disappears as is normal for the style.
On the nose it's strongly sour, almost ascetic. There's a wild, yeast note there as well. None of that is unexpected.
Taste follows. The beer is initially quite sour. The yeatiness is evident, almost spicey and Belgian in character. The base beer is restrained underneath the sourness - there's no real malt body to speak of. Halfway through the swallow there's the pomegranate/fig taste I mentioned earlier and it lingers retronasally before being washed away by the finishing sourness that lies over the tongue.
Overall it's a nice beer. I'm not a huge sour fan so I've tried to rate this to style while ignoring my biases, which is always a fraught road to travel. Hopefully I've done the beer justice.
Cheers!
