On-draught @ 16 Tun, Auckland, New Zealand.
Barrel aged wild ale with flower additions (lavender, calendula, elderflower, chamomile). 5.9% ABV. Brewed for rare disorder charity.
Oily and herbal tea-like floral flavour. Chamomile, bergamot, flowery bedtime tea flavours. Can't say lavender is particularly pungent, but I consider that a plus.
I don't taste any barrel flavour at all, but I do pick up on pleasant microflora from the wild fermentation.
I've always been a sucker for Earl Grey tea infused beers, and the floral flavour of this reminds me of those quite a bit. I do wish they'd pushed the wild yeast further and maybe added bacteria to the mix while amping up the barrel flavour, but it's a nice mellow barrel aged wild ale that will please those who don't demand sourness or barrel flavour in a wild ale.
