When it's time to brew something that's over the line, why not brew a beer inspired by the Dude's favorite cocktail, the white Russian? For our experiment, we brewed an old-school, unfiltered German ale called a grätzer, but the German is not the issue here. We upped it's alcohol, left a little residual sugar in it, and switched out the grätzer's smoked malts for a coffee roasted by our friends at Bicycle Coffee Roasters. That coffee's interesting, man. It really ties the brew together.

If anyone figures out a better style classification for this beer feel free to send an update. It was a German smoked wheat beer originally (so rauchbier) but the smoked malt was replaced with coffee and the whole thing was imperialized. So I'm stumped. From the menu:

Pours golden orange, quite hazy, nice white head, some lacing, and low retention.
Aroma is initially all coffee but when you recover from that shock you get wheat, spices, and some fruit. Interesting, though I'm a bit scared at this point.
Flavor is again an initial blast of coffee but it doesnt linger and quickly makes way for the grape, wheat, pepper, bread, and sugar. The coffee doesn't overpower the beer thankfully.
Body is medium/heavy and if you are into coffee this could be quite enjoyable, especially if you are afraid of "dark and heavy" beers.
