broken 7 ipa. a neat new school dry hoppy hazy citra type ipa on tap in montreal, served in a shaker pint shaped glass, but with a larger capacity than we normally see here with the pint in the states. hazy yellow beer, heady and frothy and cloudy but consistent throughout, not what i was expecting at all. awesome fresh hop aroma with a lot of citrus to it, orange and lemon predominantly, doesnt smell bitter at all, and probably citra driven, although it smells like more than one hop varietal happening here. a neat flavor for sure, malty in a dry way, but lots of fluffy body and a wheaty sort of flavor to it, crackery and clean, but influential for sure, and a seemingly perfect base for these hops. sweet lemon oily hops, and more bitterness than i could detect with my nose, balanced through with the interesting almost starchy grain base, and a long hoppy finish, dry hopped for sure, and light for what it is. a most enjoyable beer, better than its ratings for sure, and nice with seafood, not too overpowering at all. my first from these guys!
