Fridged from Beer Cartel but no BB
Indeed more like an APA with a hint of pine. A little dull overall and once again freshness must play a part.

Tried on-tap at the Quarryman's in Pyrmont. It's a shame that Session IPA is now a thing. I feel like you could easily have called this an APA, but in general (at least in Australia), pale ales have been dumbed down a fair bit on the hops side of things. So we have Session IPA, let's see how this goes.
Pours a lovely bright golden colour with a foamy white head that stays rather weakly. Lacing is full and frothy. Body is fine but light, and holds minimal carbonation. Looks pretty good, all up.
Nose is bright, fruity and full with melon dominant. No true citrus characters in the way I was expecting, but there's an underripe fruit character that gives it a little sharpness and crispness at least. Faint carbonic character comes through as well, along with a sweetness to balance this out. Pretty nice stuff.
Taste is also good, and here there is a little bit of pithy citrus coming through. Tangering, and pink grapefruit, with a mild bitterness on the mid-palate to later. Slight minerally character on the back, leavened by more fruitiness. Light bodied, due to the low ABV (and its "sessionable" nature), but it doesn't feel unbalanced. Slight suggestion of butterscotch (not diacetyl) gives it a bit of basis. Pretty good stuff.
Yep, this is very drinkable, and pretty enjoyable. Call it an APA and you'd be on the money too, this is what they used to be like. I'd certainly drink it again: it's a pretty nice beer, whatever it's called.
