Rocks Red Ale is the first beer released by the company in 2008. As an Irish Red Ale, the beer pours with an off white head and deep jarrah red hue. The soft caramel malt flavour profile comes from the use of UK crystal and chocolate malts. These malts also give a rich aromaof caramel and chocolate on the nose. Lightly bittered and at just over 4% of alcohol this beer is an easy drinking pint with a malt-focus especially with the addition of Munich malt to bolster the beers flavour.

The Boxer Red from Harts is decent. It poured a hazy amber with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent is very malty. The taste is also heavy malt lean. The Mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Byrne was a boxer, I hear, hence the rebranding of Byrnes Red Ale to The Boxer.
Pours a brownish orange colour, very hazed, and certainly not particularly red. Take that with a grain of salt. Head is beautifully fine, but it only leaves a little lace as it settles. Thin body. Looks decent.
Nose is clean and a little spicy, giving rise to hints of baking spice, perhaps nutmeg or cloves. Some yeasty biscuity characters and a dash of carob. Quite nice.
Much drier on the palate, leaving it quite crisp, with a surprising bitterness on the back. Very little residual sweetness or malt character, and not a great deal of complexity. Feel is fine.
Another solid beer from Rocks. Simple, but solid.

A: Cloudy red, even slightly muddy, good lacing, head could be fuller.
N: Fairly mild but I'm getting hints of sweet malts.
T: Improvement on the nose, a nice sweetness that one would expect from a red ale but not overpowering and the back palate is dry.
M: Not as thick as I was expecting but this actually makes it quite drinkable.

Light malt aroma with a hint of coffee and caramel notes. Slightly metallic.
Good, clear copper colour with a small white head. Fair head retention.
Dull malt flavour with a light English hop character. Not at all inspiring with a metallic finish.
Medium-light body with moderate carbonation.
Light and easy to drink but there's not a lot here to keep anyone interested.
