On tap at River House on 5/7/11.
A - Dark caramel-colored, reddish-brown liquid with a slender beige head that reduced to a patchy, swirly film and some stringy, spotty lacing.
S - Sweet, malty nose with toasted grains, caramel and toffee notes. Muted hop presence with some grassy and citrusy attributes.
T - Very malty as expected, with plenty of toasted bread, caramel and toffee characteristics but with a nice balance of noble hops, which impart a light spiciness and hint of citrus fruit. Slightly burnt caramel notes emerge in the backend, giving the finish a sweet, toasty flavor amid mild hop bitterness.
M - Medium bodied with a sticky mouthfeel and syrupy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a hint of bristle on the palate.
D - Good representation of the style with a bit more of a hop character than most Irish Red ales I've had.
