Poured from tap at the brewery.
Tasted great after a long day of hiking up on Mount Hood! This beer certainly has a place here at the brewpub; however, it really is a beer best enjoyed while hot and thirsty.
The color is pale yellow with a golden tint, little head or lace. Pretty average appearance actually. Very aromatic with lots of floral notes but not a lot of aromatic complexity.
The beer is light bodied, with low alcohol, low tannins, and medium acidity. Texturally not impressive. There is a hint of toasted malt/grain on the finish.
Thoroughly drinkable and enjoyable, just not the best or most complex beer these guys brew.

Tried this on tap at Mt. Hood Brewing in June of 2009. The colour was golden straw. The aroma....er... uh... what aroma?! The palate was just as uneventful as the aroma. I could detect some faint lingering hops and malt, and some insinuations of grain and cereal but that was about it for this lackluster!

This is a transition beer. The problem I have is that I have no inclination to transition back towards thin, flavorless beers. Highland Meadow is golden and clear with relatively little innate carbonation after the initial nitro infusion wears off. It has a yeasty, foul taste like a month old truckstop Bud caged in fluorescent lighting.
There are valid commercial reasons why brewers feel obliged to placate new craft brew drinkers by emulating the light, watery brews they are accustomed to. Perhaps however, it is an ironic compliment to the brewer that he is apparently unskilled at intentionally producing such mediocre beers.
This blonde ale is simply unappealing.
