Poured from tap at the brewery.

Looks pretty. Nice head, persistent lace, good, albeit clear copper/amber hue.

Nice aromatics hovering on nutty, malty notes. Good texture, thick and viscous, almost reminds me of a nitro tap.

Finishes with a faint metallic twang that I am not crazy about.

Mt. Hood Brewing’s original ale dates back to the brewpub’s founding in 1992. Its flavor is dilute but charmed by a distant flourish of implied peat. It is pretty, clear, and oaken, but its completely absent head and lace and minimal carbonation cost it points in the visual range.

A minimalist beer with recalcitrant bittering that visits the threshold of phenolic twang.
