Birrificio Rurale "Seta"
on tap
Notes: Hazy gold. Short head of white. Average head retention and lacing. Mild aroma of peach, orange, wheat, and soft woody spice. The flavor follows with a light wheat malt base, lots of bright orange, and a mild, woody/coriander spiciness. I take it this is a Belgian-style witbier? That would explain the name "seta", which is silk in English. It's mildly acidic with a moderate bitterness. Dry finish with a dusty swirl of spiciness that lingers gently. Medium bodied with a smooth, fine-bubbled, moderate carbonation. It's a nice, lighter beer with a great orange flavor. - p.s. I later picked up a bottle and the orange flavor is actually from Italian Bergamot.

Pour is slightly cloudy, light yellow with pure white head. Nose is lemon forward, hints of lemon pledge, muskyk and light yeast. Taste is lemon soda like, a bit watered down, yeast gone and still faint chemical. Body is light, very soft and decent carb and crisp bite.

Served on draught into stemware at Ma Che Siete Venuti in Rome, Italy. Reviewed from notes.
A: Pours a two finger head of nice soft cream, good thickness, and favorable retention. Cloudy orange copper colour.
Sm: Lemon and orange peel citrus hop esters. Maybe some cream.
T: Lemon and orange peel citrus ester hops are indeed dominant. It's delightfully refreshing. Pleasant but simple and a bit watery - which is troublesome. The citrus notes are full bodied and wonderfully handled.
Mf: Smooth and wet, with a bit too much thickness for the style and refreshing feel.
Dr: Very refreshing, but it comes at a very high price. I like it and it's a great summer day sipper, but the quality is impacted by its many flaws.

Light color, clean, a bit veiled. Lively carbnation, with one finger of white foam.
Malty smell, spicy, fresh, with orange, camomile, bitter orange peel.
More round in the mouth, again spicy notes, well mixed and balanced. Fresh and pleasant.
The coriander is present in the taste, along with a bit of hop.
Fresh and thirst-quenching aftertaste, again orange, coriander, wheat.
A good blanche, pleasant.
