What happens when bourbon lovers brew beer.
The Kentucky Common is a style of beer that started in Louisville. And at one point, more than 75 percent of Louisvillians drank Commons before the style disappeared during Prohibition. Today we craft this rich, easy-drinking ale with corn, barley and rye - just the way it used to be made.

I tried this at Merle's whiskey kitchen in Louisville, KY. It poured a clear golden with white head that left some lace. The scent had faint malt and bitter hop notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

Mild hoppiness and balanced rye flavor. Very drinkable. Tastes like a craft version of a classic American beer. Good.

12 oz can from KY.
Pours amber with a tall, foamy, beige head that settled slowly.
Hop forward aroma with a malt dominated flavor. Mild bitterness.
Near medium body with medium carbonation.

Very easy to drink. Label says it's built using same grains as bourbon and as a bourbon drinker I can definitely appreciate it. Beers aged in Bourbon barrels taste sharp IMO. This beer, not aged in a barrel but made w similar grains, is what bourbon would be if it was beer.

12 FL OZ. can
Served in a Cleveland Browns nonic glass
This beer pours a brilliant copper color with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves no lacing.
I can smell the corn and get a little spiciness from the rye.
The rye is more prominent in the taste. It has some bitterness.
Medium mouthfeel
I'm coming off a cold. My palate seems more sensitive to bitterness after not drinking for awhile.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This rye brew pours a rugged reddish amber with a
modest head of white foam that falls to nothingness. Nose subtle spicy rye and subtle
grains with a touch of sweet malt. Flavors follow the nose with rye and corn/grain notes
on all sides mingling with a touch of caramel malt and light herbal hop notes. Mouth feel
is a touch light on the carbonation making this one lightly coating and lightly dry on the
finish with a grain aftertaste. Overall, makes me think of a little more flavorful Miller High Life,
which to be honest is not really that bad of a thing.
Cheers

Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a thick-stemmed straight-sided glass goblet. Deep reddish-amber color, with a thick white long-lasting head. Malt-forward on the nose and palate, with notes of caramel and peppery spice. Medium bodied, with a slightly silky mouthfeel and a nice kick of white pepper on the finish. This is an interesting style, with a malt bill that recalls a bourbon mash bill. Overall, an excellent easy-drinking beer.
