Poured into a clear glass. Has a taupe opaque color to it, thick head that dissipates into a thin beige foam which occupies the top.
I mainly smell roasted coffee beans and roasted malt, with lovely aromas of dark chocolate and notes of licorice and toffee. Has a very commanding smell and nice balance of dark ingredients that combine with the grassy scent of the hops.
The taste of strong coffee beans, bready elements, and overall roasted flavors rush the mouth powerfully, while the dark chocolate adds a nice sweet subtle addition to its strong bitterness. All combines together with the blatant, grassy alcoholic base. I also taste a sort of burnt oak flavor in there as well, maybe a Kentuckian inspiration? Feels creamy smooth and heavy in the mouth, going down very nicely.
It's pretty good and it has a nice kick. Kind of wish there was another minor sweet ingredient in there to not make the bitterness so domineering.

22 ounce bottle, no dating that I was able to find on it but I think it's a 2017 release. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head that stuck around a while. There's also a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, dark fruit, licorice, coffee and bittersweet chocolate. The taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some burnt/charred malt and dark bready flavors noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit slick with moderate carbonation. I thought this was a good imperial stout, definitely more bitter/roasty than it is sweet. It's one that I'd like to try again in the future, maybe I should have bought another bottle of it to age. Hoping Subtle Beast will be brought back again by Falls City at some point. $9.99 a bomber.

From the 22 oz bomber in a sifter via the Party Source in their local brewers section.
This nice little imperial pours a deep cola black with a nice head of light tan foam that
subsides to a thick ring, thin pooling layer, and showcases light sudsy lacing. Nose of
dark bakers chocolate, brewers licorice, coffee, and a touch of char mingling with booze.
Flavors exceed the nose with coffee and brewers licorice awash in dark bakers chocolate
and showing notes of char with a light layer of grassy herbal hops on the rear that sear in
lightly from the strength of the alcohol. Excellent mouth feel; full body, medium low carbonation,
coating, and warming with a sweet char touched finish.
Overall; a solid imperial stout worthy of checking out.
Cheers
