From the growler via Party Town in Kentucky and enjoyed in a snifter.
This rather nice little barley wine pours a nice red tinged mahogany
with a moderate head of off white foam that settles to a thick big bubbled
ring and thin film of foam with subtle lacing. Nose of muted rye whiskey,
subtle brown sugars, subtle cherry notes, and a hint of vanilla. Flavors expand
nicely on the nose with a lightly spicy rye whiskey flavor that is far from overpowering
but more balanced with mild brown sugars, light notes of pie cherries, subtle oak,
leather, a wafting vanilla note around a moderately spicy rye flavor. Very nice mouth
feel; smooth, warming, moderately sweet, balanced, low carbonation, and a lightly
warming smooth and subtly dry finish.
Overall a solid ale from a solid brewery.
Cheers
