When our founders started Falls City Brewing Co. in 1905 as a way to fight a big beer monopoly, they probably never imagined their legacy would live on 114 years later. But here we are, raising a beer to their rebellious spirit and toasting another year of Falls City Beer. This Belgian Stout with Birthday Cake is the perfect way to honor them while encouraging everyone to STAND UP and DRINK GOOD BEER!

22 ounce white wax capped bottle, no dating on it that I noticed but I believe this was an April 2019 release. Purchased at the taproom about a month ago. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around for a little while. There's a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like vanilla, sugar, white/yellow cake, grainy malt, and some dark fruit, licorice and cloves. For the most part I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with some molasses and earthy flavors noticeable too. I think the dark fruit and earthy flavors shows up more in the finish. This really does remind me of eating a white/vanilla birthday cake, and it's not overpoweringly sweet. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy and coating with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, unique and certainly worth a try!
