As the days get shorter and colder air starts to blow in, grab a can of our coffee stout to give you an extra boost to make it through. With locally roasted coffee from our neighbors at 78 Coffee Co., this bold, robust stout features a flavor full of chocolate, roasted malt and toffee with a touch of vanilla.

Had it at the brewery.
Pours a black color with a nice thick, dense brown head. Good retention.
Coffee flavor is almost too much. Finished with a slight bitterness.
Overall, a nice beer.

Welcome back to New Beer(s) from @jkblr Sunday (Week 776), MKII, Part 1! He is my only current shipping trader with @tone77 as a local, in-person trader & he was CANcerned that perhaps I was giving his beers short shrift. Perish the thought! I was saving them for an NBS, but then other NBSs spiraled outta CANtrol & I kept pushing his to the back burner. My previous one was coffee-oriented so I have decided to remain with that theme for the time being.

From the CAN: "Bold & Dark Vanilla"; "78 Coffee Co."; "As the days get shorter and colder air starts to blow in, grab a can of our coffee stout to give you an extra boost to make it through. With locally roasted coffee from our neighbors at 78 Coffee Co., this bold, robust stout features a flavor full of chocolate, roasted malt and toffee with a touch of vanilla."; "Our City, Your Beer".

Oh boy, more coffee! I beCAN by Crack!ing open the vent & starting a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the thirsty glass. Once more, I was rewarded with a pseudo-cascade that eventually formed two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, deep-tan/light-brown head with very good retention, leaving a load of sticky lacing in its eventual wake. Color was ebony Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing ZERO light penetration. Nose had a pleasant mix of coffee, vanilla and a light smokiness. I usually eschew flavored coffees & flavored creamers, preferring my coffee like my women - hot & black! 8=) Sometimes, though, vanilla CAN be nice & such was the case here. It smelled really good, but the proof of the pudding is in the tasting. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was interesting, opening with the deep roastiness of coffee coupled with the bitterness of Baker's chocolate as well as a fairly prevalent smokiness. Phew! This was quite reminiscent of my morning cuppa joe. I usually only have one these days, but it is through a filter jammed with grounds that comes out smokin' & sustains me for the day. Other people have an expression of having put their finger in a light socket upon trying it, but that would be their problem. Note that I have not mentioned the vanilla as yet. That is because it did not really make an appearance until the finish. It gave the beer a pleasant, almost unexpected, tweak at the end. Yum!

12oz undated can (they only date one can of any six pack) poured into a tulip pint glass at fridge temp 5% ABV 30 IBU per FC website. The beer pours nearly black with no light penetration and mocha colored head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a few spots of lacing. The aroma is cold brewed coffee and faint vanilla. The flavor is more of the same with prominent coffee and lesser vanilla. There's very little roast or bitterness. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied, adequately carbonated and dry finish. Overall, good. Rather one dimensional, but the coffee notes are very nice. A bit thin and lacking roasty malts, but worth a try.
