Swing top e0,5l bottle with a best by label date of 7 2023. Standard Doppelbock, nothing special here. A bit boozy as it warms with tasty malt throughout. A good beer but disappointing in the end.

very good winter beer.
Rich roasting aromas, dark fruit. Not too bitter. More bitter and rich than the other dark beer from this brewery (Schwarzbier, which I would call something like a dark ale I guess).
Here hops and sweetness well balanced, however pretty sweet. Just a step away from beeing too sweet, but it is not too sweet.
Reminded me at once on the famous Bavarian Doppelbock beers. This Swabian beer is on the same level in my opinion.
Only available in spring and autumn, and this is exactly the right time for drinking it. Way too heavy for a hot summer day.
Just delicious.

Clear light brown color. Decent head which leaves a blanket of lace.

The smell is rich with sugar and dark bread toasting.

Quite sweet, even for the style, resulting in a very rich feel. The lower carbonation makes this beer almost like an appertif. The finish is bread-like but with a serious addition of sugar.

A: Fantastic dark ruby mahogany colour, dense,
medium thick tanned head, decent retention lots if
lacing, the pour left a bit of a scar.

S: Raisins and molasses.

T: Rich flavours, Dark chocolate, oak,
fudge, some diacetyl and cranberry as it warmed,
finish is slightly bitter giving it balance.

M: Full bodied, thick texture, smooth but the carbonation
gave it an edge.

O: Holds up against Andechs and
other doppelbocks, I’m pretty sure this would
have a big rating if it were available stateside.
